"To serve and defect"

Films: CHAPPiE (2015)

Alias: The Scouts (No.22 (Chappie)), the MOOSE

Type: Man-Made

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of average humans to that of a tank.

Affiliation: Good (Chappie), Neutral (the rest)

Summary: One of the biggest fears some of us have is the law turning to using drones and robots to patrol places of high poverty. On paper, it sounds like a great way to quell terrorism. On the other, there are just too many trigger-happy loons who would love to see machines kill the poor for their own sick gain. In this case, we saw the very best and the very worst of this possible scenario of machines among us.

History: In the country of Johannesburg, crime is rather high, so a special line of robotic drones called Scouts are sent to quell it all. It does work, though the brains behind the operation wishes to make something that thinks, not kills. He takes a derelict Scout, but a string of events puts him in dept to a poor gang looking to rob their way out of poverty. When the robot is activated by the new code, it starts out with the mindset of a child. Named Chappie, the Scout is mostly raised by the gangsters as their son, though all they really want is for him to help out with a major heist. It won't be long before Chappie finds himself VERY conflicted with his purpose in life, especially as he gets smarter.

Notable Kills: All those knife moves are him making people "got to sleep", as his "dad" told him.

Final Fate: Chappie learns several awful truths before his family is assaulted by the MOOSE, a hulking bipedal tank drone made by a guy miffed that his project got turned away in favor of the Scouts. Some death and explosions later, and Chappie takes it out with a grenade before crippling the guy who made it. Having lost his mother and nearly his creator in the process, he uses all his knowledge to put the both of them into new robot bodies, making his family whole again.

Powers/Abilities: Chappie, and all other Scouts, are excellent combatants, able to learn all forms of fighting in record time. Of course, they are great learners in general, though it's really only Chappie who has the intelligent edge. The MOOSE comes with all manner of guns and RPGs mounted on it.

Weakness: Heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-The MOOSE is only about as scary as any decorated tank, though that's not to say it isn't a total menace when it shows up. Chappie is scary for different reasons entirely. He's just a sweet child at heart, but his family (briefly) corrupted him into becoming a killing machine without him knowing it. Of course, when all is said and done, it's nice to give him a hug. Just don't EVER cross him. He won't kill, but you'll wish he did.

Trivia: -This film attracted scrutiny for its rather jarring casting of the musical pair of Die Antwoord as the main human stars, their presence and the music everywhere throughout it. They even use their stage names as character names, for corn's sake! Not helping things was how Ninja was a reportedly terrible person to work with due to his flippant arrogance.

-This film is known in Italy as "Humandroid", due to Chappie sounding like both a dog food brand there, as well as a word for "ass". Not even joking.

Fun with scofflaws!

"BOW BEFORE ME, BAD-MEN!"

I miss Barricade the Decepticon.

Video Game Logic works quite well. Aim for the weakpoint!
More like this one block's hope.

That...woould explain a lot, Jackson.

"This guy? Ninja? Hit him REALLY hard in training."

Look upon your fellow creation...and despair.
Wonder what the demons are for?

Good thing the fella didn't mistake him for a walking fire hydrant.
Guess they wanted a superpowered GECKO robot. Snake's on his way.
